A cell can't be edited

Pressing F2 or Enter, typing, or double-clicking doesn't open an editor in a WklTreeList cell, or EditCell raises wkeInvalidValue.

Environment

All versions of WklTreeList.

Cause

One of the following applies:

  • AllowEditing is False.
  • The column is ReadOnly.
  • The node is a group node (GroupFields); groups don't represent records.
  • BeforeCellEdit set Cancel = True.

If the editor opens but the value doesn't stick, the save failed; see Changes in the tree aren't saved.

Resolution

  1. Check AllowEditing (property sheet, Other tab) and the column's Read-only setting (designer's Columns page).
  2. Check BeforeCellEdit in the form module.
  3. In grouped lists, edit the record rows (leaf nodes); group rows can't be edited.
