The badge doesn't appear, or not on its target
Environment
WklBadge 1.35 or later, in Access forms and on Excel and Word UserForms.
Cause
- Nothing to show. The count is zero (with
HideZeroset to True, the default), negative, Null, or text that isn't a number; a count badge without any value stays hidden as well. A dot badge is hidden by Null. - The target is hidden or not found. The badge hides with its target. A name in
Targetthat isn't a control in the same section (detail, header, footer, or the same page of a tab control) isn't found;TargetFoundthen returns False, and the badge stays where it was drawn. - Design view. The badge moves onto its target only in Form view; in Design view, it stays where it was drawn and shows a sample „3“.
- A subform covers it. Access draws a subform over every ActiveX control, so a badge on or behind a subform can't be seen.
- The detail section of a continuous form. Access creates only one instance there, and a bound one keeps Access from opening the form.
Resolution
- Read
Count,ValueandTargetFoundin the Immediate window while the form is open:?Forms!frmStart!badSessions.Object.TargetFound. - Put the badge in the same section as its target, and check the spelling of
Target. - Set
HideZeroto False to see „0“, or check the Control Source for Null. - Place a badge for a subform beside the subform, and put counts per record in a
WklGridcolumn instead of a continuous form.
