The add-in entry is missing
Database Tools › Add-Ins has no entry WKL Linked Tables Manager, or the entry shows the message “WKL Forms Object Library is not registered on this computer.” instead of the designer.
Environment
The add-in WklExtensions.accda with Microsoft 365 Access (32 bit; see the
prerequisites).
Cause
- The add-in is not installed for this Windows user, or Access was already running during the installation: Access reads the add-in menu entries at start.
- The menu entry points to a file that was moved or deleted.
- No database is open, or Access runs as runtime (
/runtimeor the Access Runtime): the Database Tools tab and add-ins are not available there. - The message about the registration: the add-in runs, but the WKL Forms Object Library is not registered in the bitness of Office (32-bit Office needs the x86 registration).
Resolution
- Close Access and run
tools\install-addin.ps1from the release package, which copiesaddin\WklExtensions.accdaand enters its menu items; then start Access again.WklLinkManager.ShowDesigneropens the same designer from VBA. - Open a database in the full Access; in the runtime, call
WklLinkManagerfrom the application's code instead. - Register the components in the bitness of Office (How to: Install the released package).
- When Access shows a security notice for the add-in, add its folder (by default
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\AddIns) as trusted location in the Trust Center.
