The WKL components are not available (code 30)

The window of the starter says: “The WKL components this application needs are not available.” Below it stands the error code 30; the diagnostic details (Alt+D) hold the technical detail, also the output of Wkl.Bootstrapper.exe /diagnose. The exit code of the starter is 30.

Environment

WKL Bootstrapper 1.0 and later on Windows 11. Supported: Windows 11 with Microsoft Access of Microsoft 365, 32 bit.

Cause

The WKL components are not registered for the bitness of Access (or the registered DLL is gone), and the delivery brings none: components in bootstrapper.json is empty, or the folder it names has no x86/x64 subfolder with Wkl.Forms.ObjectLibrary.dll (up to release 1.68: Wkl.Access.Components.dll).

Resolution

Put the x86 and x64 folders of the WKL release package below the source (for example components\x86, components\x64) and set components to that folder. The starter then registers them for the user at the next start, without administrator rights.
