The version of the application does not match the installed Access (32 or 64 bit) (code 21)
The window of the starter says: “This version of the application does not match the installed Access (32 or 64 bit).” Below it stands the error code 21; the diagnostic details (Alt+D) hold the technical detail, also the output of Wkl.Bootstrapper.exe /diagnose. The exit code of the starter is 21.
Environment
WKL Bootstrapper 1.0 and later on Windows 11. Supported: Windows 11 with Microsoft Access of Microsoft 365, 32 bit.
Cause
An ACCDE runs only in the bitness of Access it was made in. app-manifest.json says x86 or x64, and the installed Access has the other bitness.
Resolution
- Deliver the ACCDE built in the bitness of the users' Office, from a source folder of its own (see Deliver an Access application to 32-bit and 64-bit Office).
- An ACCDB runs in both bitnesses; the build tool writes its bitness as
any.
