When you open a page

With every request, your browser transmits data that the web server records in a log file:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of the request
  • the address requested, together with the status code and the amount of data transferred
  • browser identification and, if your browser sends it, the page you came from

This processing is technically necessary in order to deliver the pages, and it also serves operational security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in undisturbed and secure operation.

Log data is deleted once it is no longer required for those purposes. If it is needed to investigate a security incident, it is retained until that investigation is concluded.

Hosting

These pages run on a rented virtual server operated by

IONOS SE
Elgendorfer Straße 57
56410 Montabaur
Germany

The provider processes the log data described above on our behalf and is bound by our instructions; a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place. The servers are located in Germany.

No third-party content

These pages load no content from third-party servers. Fonts, images, style sheets, and scripts are held entirely on our own server. Opening a page therefore establishes no connection to a third party, and your IP address is transmitted to no third party.

In particular, none of the following are embedded: third-party web fonts, map services, video embeds, social network buttons, or content delivery networks.

No audience measurement

We do not analyze usage behavior. No profiles are created, no recognition identifier is set, and no data is transmitted to an analytics service.

Cookies

Only technically necessary cookies are used. They serve neither cross-session recognition nor any form of analysis.

Name Purpose Duration
DOKU_PREFS remembers display settings, such as a chosen font size until deleted in the browser
DokuWiki session identifier; set on the first visit, also without signing in end of the session
DW… keeps a sign-in beyond the session, if requested at sign-in as chosen at sign-in

If you read these pages without signing in, you receive only the session cookie DokuWiki; it holds a random identifier, is not analyzed, and expires with the session. DOKU_PREFS is set only when you change a display setting, DW… only when you sign in. No consent is required, because these cookies are strictly necessary for operation (Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German TDDDG).

Search works from an index held on the same server. Your search terms are not transmitted to any third party. Because they are part of the requested address, they appear in the server log (see above) and are deleted with it.

Page history

Pages keep a change history that records the IP address or user name of the editor for every change. Visitors cannot edit; as a visitor you leave no entry there.

Contacting us

There is no general contact form. If you contact us at one of the addresses given, we process what you send in order to answer your inquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the inquiry concerns a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The details are deleted once the inquiry has been dealt with and no retention obligation stands in the way.

Reporting a vulnerability

The page Report a vulnerability has a form for reporting security vulnerabilities. What you enter there (the description and, if you like, the affected product and your email address) is not stored on the website; it is emailed to the administrators of this website. The email is sent through our email provider, Google, and then sits in the administrators' mailboxes. For each report, the website log records only a reference number, the time and your network (the first three parts of your IP address), and the log is deleted after 90 days. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in learning about security vulnerabilities and fixing them. The details are deleted once the report has been dealt with and no retention obligation stands in the way.

Recipients and third countries

Apart from the processor named under “Hosting”, no one receives personal data. No transfer to a country outside the European Union takes place.

Your rights

In relation to the controllers, you have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR), and the right to object to processing based on a legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR). Please write to one of the addresses above.

Independently of this, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is the one where you reside, where you work, or where the alleged infringement took place; for the controllers, these are the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Hamburgische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit) and the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia (Informacijski pooblaščenec).

No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making in individual cases, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

Version

This notice applies from November 2, 2026. It will be adjusted if the processing changes.
