WklGauge and WklKpiCard
Two controls for start pages and status pages: WklGauge shows a value on a scale with colored
ranges, WklKpiCard shows a key figure with its deviation from a comparison value, a status, a
sparkline and a badge.

Common tasks
- How to: Print gauges and charts in a report: one gauge per record, ranges told apart by pattern on a grayscale printout (
PrintStyle).

| Region | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ① ② ③ | Ranges of the scale in the pale colors of their kinds (AddRange): ok, warn, bad. |
| ④ | The value as fill (or needle) in the strong color of the range it lies in; a marker can show a target. |
| ( Action needed ) and ▌ | StatusText as a pill and a strip in the color of StatusKind. |
| ▲ +1 | The deviation Value - Compare in the text color of DeltaKind. |
| (3) | BadgeCount in the color of BadgeKind. |
| ╱╲__╱ | The sparkline of the last points (AddPoint, SetSeries). |
Key features
- Colors by meaning. Both controls take their colors from the status kinds (
wskOk,wskWarn, wskBad,wskInfo, wskNeutral, wskMuted) thatWklStatusLabel,WklBadge,WklButtonand the status columns ofWklGriduse; in Windows high contrast mode the system colors. - Bound or set by code. Steuerelementinhalt writes a field into
Valueon every record change; a start page setsValuefrom a timer instead. - Quiet updates. A gauge glides to a new value (off with Windows animations off) and tells screen readers only when the value moves into another range (
RangeChange); a card is not announced at all, and screen readers read its statement when they reach it. - Shapes. Half circle, three-quarter circle, horizontal and vertical bar; filled or with a needle; several bars with a legend, side by side or stacked.
- Clicks with a key.
Click(Key)on both, so one procedure opens the right list for every card.
Core concepts
The controls draw themselves (no Access controls inside) and are bound like WklStatusLabel:
Value is the default bound property and is never written back. What is shown is computed by
the core of the framework (GaugeReading, KpiReading): position on the scale, kind of the range,
the formatted text and the statement for screen readers, the same in the window, in design view and
in print preview. The values of bars and the points of a sparkline belong to the running form and
are not saved with it.
