"Der Dienst kann diese Anmeldung in SQL Server nicht annehmen" (The service can't assume this login in SQL Server) after renaming an account

A person whose Windows account was renamed gets the response 403 “Der Dienst kann diese Anmeldung in SQL Server nicht annehmen.” on an alias with Persons: Impersonate; the log shows SQL Server error

Alias with Persons: Impersonate; Windows logins in SQL Server.

SQL Server keeps the login of a renamed account under the old name. The service finds it by the SID; but SQL Server can't switch to it, because it resolves the stored name through Windows and fails (15404, Windows code 0x534)—even as sysadmin.

Rename the login in SQL Server as well:

ALTER LOGIN [CORP\OLD] WITH NAME = [CORP\NEW];

The person's next request responds 200; SUSER_SNAME() returns the new name.
