Work with areas, lists, and commands
The administration app shows everything in a single window: the navigation bar with the areas on the left, the selected area with its list on the right, and the command bar above. This page explains how to get around, how to find and change entries, and what the app remembers for you.

| No. | Part | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Header band | shows which area you're in |
| 2 | Command bar | commands for the list and the area |
| 3 | Navigation bar | switches between areas; Abmelden (Sign out) at the bottom |
| 4 | List | the area's entries; each row expands to its detail lists |
| 5 | Form or right pane | the edit form for the selected row, a wizard, or a check view such as Anmeldung und Rechte (Sign-in and permissions) |
Steps
Switch between areas
- Select an entry in the navigation bar. The area opens on the right; the app never opens a second window.
- Press Ctrl+B to collapse the bar to its icons and expand it again, and F6 to move between the bar and the area.
Run commands
- On the left of the command bar are Neu (New), Bearbeiten (Edit), and Löschen (Delete) for the list, followed by the area's main command (highlighted) and Weitere (More) with the remaining commands. On the right are Exportieren … (Export …) and Aktualisieren (Refresh). If the window isn't wide enough, commands move into the Weitere menu starting from the end; the main command stays visible the longest.
- You can reach the same commands from a row's shortcut menu (right-click, the Menu key, or Shift+F10) and with Alt plus the underlined letter, for example Alt+A for Aktualisieren. On the people page, a row's shortcut menu offers only the commands for that person, in submenus; commands that affect the whole list are under Weitere.
- Buttons that don't apply to the list are grayed out, such as Löschen in a list whose entries the service doesn't let you delete.
Find entries
- Click a column header to sort, use the filter list on each column to filter, drag columns to the grouping bar above them to group, and press Ctrl+F to search.
- In tree lists (rules, sign-in policy, log, block list), you filter by column the same way, in the filter row below the column headers or with the funnel in a column header. A matching entry stays visible with the entries above it; the bar below the list shows the conditions and removes them with Filter löschen (Clear filter).
- The arrow in front of a row (or Ctrl++) expands the row to its detail lists, one tab per list; Ctrl+- collapses it again.
- Some cards on the Übersicht (Overview) open a list that's already filtered. The filter appears as a button with an × next to the list; click it (or press Del) to remove the filter.

Pages with cards (people)
- The Personen und Schlüssel (People and keys) page has three regions: work lists on the left, the list in the middle, and cards with tabs on the right (Person, Auswahl (Selection)); optionally, the rules appear below the list (Ctrl+R) and the person's accesses (Ctrl+L). The card follows whatever you select in the list, and you can drag the bars between the regions to change their widths. For details, see Work with many people at once.
Change entries
- In lists with a form, Neu and Bearbeiten open the form to the right of the list. Your change is saved when you leave the form.
- In lists without a form and in detail lists, you edit directly in the cell; the change is saved when you leave the cell.
- If a change would make the service's settings invalid, the service rejects it; the message tells you why, and the old value stays.
- Löschen asks for confirmation. Select several rows with Ctrl+click or Shift+click; Ctrl+C copies them.
Result: Whatever you change is saved in the service right away. Aktualisieren reloads the area, for example when another administrator is working at the same time.
Notes
- The app remembers your layout: column widths, column order, sorting, grouping, and filters of every list, the width of the navigation bar, and the width of the right pane, separately for each Windows user. Weitere > Spalten zurücksetzen (Reset columns) restores a list. The settings are stored in your user profile (
%APPDATA%\The White Knight Labs\GatewayManager\settings.json) and survive every update of the app; changes made in a session that ended abruptly are lost. - Your key is never stored in the app file. It's saved only if you select Schlüssel speichern (Save key), and then in Windows Credential Manager for your account on this computer, under exactly the address you signed in to. Keys and sessions travel only over HTTPS or to the local computer. When you sign out or close the app, it disconnects from the service.
- A new key is never displayed. It's issued as a one-time link that you pass on to the person. The QR code for the authenticator app is also shown only on the one-time link's page.
- Window size: The areas need at least 20 × 12 cm (about 8 × 4.7 in); a smaller window cuts them off. On very wide screens, areas and lists use at most 22 inches (55.9 cm) of width.
- Totals and grouping over the linked administration lists, for example in your own queries, fail with “ODBC-Aufruf fehlgeschlagen” (ODBC call failed): the administration interface doesn't aggregate data.
